I don't plan on cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year, BUT...I was watching GMA this morning and they offered some tips I think are helpful:
1. Cook the Turkey at 165 deg F
2. Do NOT wash or stuff it
(if you DO wash, clean areas-esp sink- with bleach 1 tblspn to 1 gal of water)
(if you DO stuff, take out and cook on own in casserole dish IT must reach 165 also)
3. don't carve Turkey right away! Let it set for 30 min so the juices don't escape (will make for more tender turkey) AND it will stay super hot for 1 hr out of oven so no worries there!
4. Thawing is 24 hrs in fridge for every 4-5 lbs breast up (IF you forget, put full sink-rotating water-breast down 1 hr for every 2 lbs--about 6 hrs total)
The cat is somewhere in the house calling me to "make sure I'm OK"....better go find her...
